History
In 1972, Theresa Fay established the orchestra program at Falls Church High School as the first director. The started program started with six violinists enrolled in orchestra, while Theresa Fay accompanied them on cello. Since then, there have been fourteen orchestra directors at Falls Church High School. In 2015, the third orchestra ensemble, Symphonic Orchestra (renamed Sinfonietta), was added to the program to accommodate the growth of the orchestra program. A decade later the fourth ensemble, Camerata, would be added as the fourth performing ensemble at Falls Church High School. Today, the orchestra department is the largest performing arts department at Falls Church High School with 150 students enrolled in the program across four performing ensembles.
